The interior is simple yet inviting, making it perfect for everything from a quick lunch to a leisurely dinner with friends.

The star of the show here is undoubtedly the udon. Each bowl is crafted to highlight the exquisite flavors of traditional Japanese cuisine. Dive into the Kitsune Udon, where premium dashi broth dances harmoniously with sweet, marinated fried tofu pouches and crunchy tempura bits, or savor the depth of the Karaage Curry Udon, where tender chicken karaage is nestled in a rich dashi curry and oxtail broth for a truly satisfying experience.

Don’t overlook the appetizers that set the stage for your meal. The Aburi Shime Saba, brilliantly seared mackerel, is a must-try. With perfectly caramelized sugar on top, it offers a delightful contrast of textures and flavors that leave a lasting impression. Customers rave about the Ume Kyuri, a refreshing cucumber salad seasoned with plum, providing a refreshing palate cleanser between the richer dishes.

But the culinary journey doesn't end there! For those who crave something unique, the Spicy Chicken Karaage is bursting with flavor, perfectly accompanied by house-made pickles. It’s no wonder patrons like Rick D share their enthusiasm about the tender, clean broth paired with a poached egg—a true foodie’s delight that enhances the umami experience.

While many guests, such as Jane Liu, expressed some reservations about specific broths and ingredients, the persistent commitment to quality shines through in dishes like the Oxtail Udon, known for its melt-in-your-mouth meat and hearty flavor. The genuine expert touch is clear, as shown by repeat customers who appreciate the expertly crafted meals and thoughtful service.

A casual eatery for Japanese udon noodles. The menu was largely different types and styles of noodles. Service was quick. The udon noodles tasted fresh, and the broth was flavorful. I tried the Utsuke Udon Tsukemen, which had the noodles and broth served separately and then you add the noodles to the broth when eating. It was a solid dish. We also added a side green salad for some fiber and greens.

I ordered the Oxtail Udon. I didn't care much for the broth, which tasted like it was flavored with ordinary black pepper. I did like how well the oxtail was stewed, so the meat lightly falls off the bone. They offer iced tea as well (by adding ice cubes to hot green tea), but you'll need to make a special request. If the broth were a bit more interesting I'd order it again. There is a musty old wood odor in the restaurant that is a little unpleasant but I got used to it after a while.

PLEASE DON’T CHANGE THE UDON NOODLES! I really hope the restaurant can reconsider the recent change to their udon noodles. While the current noodles are still good, the previous ones were on a completely different level—they had a unique texture that elevated the entire dish. The overall taste of the udon is noticeably different now. Personally, I would even be willing to pay extra just to have the old noodles back. I sincerely hope the owners will take this feedback into serious consideration, because those original noodles made the udon truly exceptional.

Amazing ox tail udon. Very tender. I added a poached egg to it. Broth clean and not salty. We also had chicken karaage and fried whole squid, which was also tender and flavorful. If you are into udon, this is the place to get something that is different from the others. This place gets busy so it's a good idea to get there at opening.

New update... again. Yummy! Friendly. They now have a rewards card you can get punched on each visit. I love the dipping udon. Beer and relaxing music... like a relaxing spa visit. The guy that helped me was just perfect. Friendly. Helpful. And the food was amazing. Glad I discovered a new local favorite. Will be back for sure...update... went back, tried the spicy dipping udon. Wow... best meal I've had since moving to Cupertino. People are so friendly. Love this place. update... so friendly... delicious.

Food always hits the spot. I love the tried lotus root topping they sprinkle on as well, though I miss the fried gobo root they used to use. One minor thing is maybe avoid going towards the end of the day near their closing time of the dinner period. I think they have tried to optimize their ingredient costs, so we noticed if we show up like half an hour before closing, we're more likely to get worse cuts of meat or smaller portions of veggies. Everything else is still always great tho

Aburi Shime Saba: (5/5) The aburi shime saba is the best thing on the menu. It’s lightly poached and the caramelized sugar on top adds the perfect contrast of texture and flavor. I’ve been here a few times to try the appetizers, but the MUST GET item is still this saba. Uzumakiya Udon: (4/5) The Uzumakiya Udon is good, the noodles are chewy, not overcooked; and the broth is flavorful. The other toppings leave something to be desired, so if you want to be satisfied, order the Oxtail instead. (Although it’s gotten quite expensive)

First time dining here. It had just opened so we were sat right away. Staff were really polite and helpful. I appreciated the timing of the food drop off as we were able to enjoy each course without the others going cold or that feeling of being rushed. Food was great. Definitely coming back. Highly recommended!
